How can each and every one of us honor the memory of this 13 yr old girl that was slaughtered today?

Abandon the false gods of fleeting gratification and pack each day that G-d grants you full with gratitude, meaning, love, kindness, growth, doing and giving the best you can ,taking your life seriously, cherishing what this little girl will never have...another day of life.

Why are we enjoined to expect G-d's gift of the Mashiach every moment of every day?.There are numerous reasons but one I would like to think is to keep hope alive and it is hope that has left us standing throughout endless oppression over the centuries

Being unemployed has helped me realize what an amoebically demented statement earning a "living"(to the nit pickers ..yes I know what the intention is) is.

So if I am not working ,not getting money in, I am not living?.This terminology CON..ditions people into thinking that only when you earn money you are living and that you are defined by the work you do.

I guess that is one ..lower way of living but we are so much more than the work we do.The work we do is only a small part of our function in this world.

We are created by G-d , we have a soul.. we are Eternal..we never die..our bodies may but we carry on as someone..some of the One that is G-d.

When and if your work is aligned with your highest values then it takes on a different more enduringly powerful meaning.

How we climb determines how we feel at the Mountain Top- Shavuot

Four people were tasked with reaching the top of a mountain.

1.One decided to get a helicopter to drop him at the top.

2.One decided that he would not bother with the mountain at all.

3.One climbed half way and then turned back

4.The last one climbed the entire mountain.

The one who had the helicopter drop him off felt good that he got to the top before everyone else but that feeling disappeared a few moments later.

The one who would not bother at all with the mountain felt nothing,maybe bored , as he had chosen to do nothing .

The one who climbed half way felt some sense of achievement but was overwhelmed by disappointment in that he had not persisted.

The last one climbed to the top and felt a lasting sense of achievement and fulfillment that would be with him for a life time. He was not the same person that started the climb, each step, each challenge on the way contributed to the person who had reached the top.

We had from Pesach to Shavuot, 49 days, to climb, to feel every stage and arrive at the Giving of the Torah, a higher version of our selves ,different ,and thus we receive the Torah in a manner that is totally different to last year, empowering ourselves, opening ourselves to and allowing ourselves to connect to a life of new closeness to G-d living our lives at a totally different level .

CHOOSE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!-It is never too late

יט הַעִדֹתִי בָכֶם הַיּוֹם אֶת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת הָאָרֶץ הַחַיִּים וְהַמָּוֶת נָתַתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ הַבְּרָכָה

וְהַקְּלָלָה וּבָחַרְתָּ בַּחַיִּים לְמַעַן תִּחְיֶה אַתָּה וְזַרְעֶךָ:

19.This day, I call upon the heaven and the earth as witnesses [that I have warned] you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. You shall choose life, so that you and your offspring will live- Deuteronomy 30:19( translation: chabad.org)

In this verse we are told to choose life so that we and our offspring can live.Why?..if it is mentioned in the Torah, it means we should choose life as we were not created to choose death, we hallow life.
So why are we told to choose life here.?

There are numerous answers, I would like to suggest one possible answer

As it says above G-d has given us life,blessing and also death and curse and most of us would obviously want to live however the extra mention serves to teach us that we must hunger for life.
We must hunger to live
We must hunger to grow
We must hunger to give
We must hunger to be grateful etc etc
As only when we grab on to life, no matter our circumstances, and put our best into it without excuses, when we open our hearts to all G-d can offer us in life and then will we truly feel alive
If we feel detached , distant we are not going to get much out of life
If we hunger to take our lives seriously and not casually then whatever situation we are in, whatever pain we might feel we will not be casualties of our lives but true champions

As a life of impact ,significance and contribution is never because of what you have or what situation you are in but rather how you choose to deal with it, how you bounce back and who you become , what version of yourself you choose to gift the world with.
