Those of us that choose to bring the light are not naive as to the power of darkness but realize that even a flickering candle banishes the thickest darkness.

So we do not complain about the darkness but rather add light as harbingers of Hashem's Eternal light, allowing those who will see that to serve Hashem means being truly free.
