Some critical coaching keys to helping a person get in touch with and release their authenticity are
Acknowledge them ,what they say feel etc

Listen with a desire to understand and not to give answers
Empty the conversation of anything you,make it all about them
Dont give advice ,solutions etc let the person dig deep as G-d has given us all we need to become all we can(use open ended questions)
Praise honestly every bit of progress,effort etc no matter how small
