When you learn to fully give yourself over to G-d..you dont lose any self...you connect to the ultimate self that is G-d and by so doing release your true authentic self
One reason is that in giving yourself over to G-d your start the process of detachment from the limiting paradigms that we have subconsciously accepted our whole lives
